There are several species of mites and they are host specific. Chicken mites, bird mites dog mites etc.( a different kind for each species) Then there are mites that attach themselves to humans . Because of the stigma of being a product of sexual contact for prolonged time and not given much attention to the current information that you can get them from other sources i.e. clothing. furniture, washing laundry Or in my case, because I helped a family move and got it by a brief hug and well wishes for a happy new home ( a new start for them) .Couldn’t find a decent Doctor who would do a simple skin test on me, but only prescribe the usual treatment and wash everything in hot water and you should be good to go. When they did not go away, it was a repeat because they said the eggs hatched. After two years and five doctors, my new PCP sent me to yet another specialist. When noting what I had been treated with (premerthrin and Stromectrol) he gave me a lecture saying basically it was all in my head, my imagination, refused to skin test me and sent me to a neurologist who gave me another appointment 5 months after that and the other Doctor set up an appointment for two months before that. What did I do? I cancelled both appointments and will treat myself with what ever has on the label,” not for human use” (if it works for animals I’ll try it) I know drug companies back doctors and when they do not work, their little black bags are empty and they won’t help me; I can not do any worse than they did, so I am on my own and almost broke by trusting them, darn.
