Submissions
If you think you are right for us, please send us a query. We may not get to your query immediately, but be assured that we will give all submissions fair attention.
We respond in 1-3 weeks on queries, 4-6 weeks for full manuscripts. Due to a large volume of work, we cannot send detailed critiques, but will only respond if we think you are an excellent fit with our vision. We are based in both the U.S. and Canada, and we especially encourage Canadian submissions!
Because we want to give each of our books all of the attention and love it deserves, we are currently publishing only three to five titles per year. Although this means that we must necessarily be selective, it also means that if you choose to publish with us, you will get a team of dedicated, professional experts to help make your book the best book it can be. We never charge reading, editing, or publication fees. After acceptance your manuscript, you will be offered a contract with simple terms.
We accept submissions in the following categories:
Fiction: science fiction; genre fiction about science or scientists; medical thrillers; fantasy/supernatural with a nerd element (you know who you are); cyberpunk; young adult. Please no poetry, romance, goth, religious, or explicit sex or gore.
Non-fiction: Popular science; laboratory guides and manuals; health and beauty; fitness; travel with a science theme; programming guides; anything else you think may interest us. Please no self-help or anything about making money. We are also unable to handle color illustrations or photographs at this time.
Guidelines for submission:
Fiction: One-page query letter, brief author bio, one-page synopsis, and the first 30-50 pages of the completed manuscript.
Non-fiction: A complete project proposal including title, motivation for the work, subject, audience, competition, and outline. Please state whether the work is completed.
